It doesn't say anything about our society. It isn't because a relationship between two men is insignificant if there isn't sex involved. In fact, that's completely antithetical to everything that mainstream society says - men are usually the only ones who have the privilege of meaningful relationships that don't involve sex, and those usually take precedant over all other relationships surrounding them. Argh.
