#103. YES! I would be crucified by my flist if I said this openly but I just hate Mai with a passion. I didn't like it when she did that to her own BABY BROTHER, (Turning him over to the enemy? Justify that. Please.) but I wanted to like her and was even ready to give Maiko a chance until she proved she was nothing more than a selfish, spoiled, cold-hearted, entitled bitch. Whoop dee do she stood up to Azula. So did Ty Lee.

#152. OMG, WHAT IS THIS FANDOM??! I need to find it!! alkfjdkl;ajfd

#165. You too?! >.<

I did and I still don't see any really good reason for her to leave her brother in the hands of the enemy. Everyone keeps saying how "she had no choice" or "Azula would have killed her" or "she knew he was safe with the Avatar." But a person always has the choice to do the right thing. (And yes I hated Zuko too when he made his bad choices.) Why would she think that her brother would be safe in the Avatar's camp? People usually judge others on what they would do in a situation. I can see her perhaps believing that the avatar may show her brother mercy but why would his companions? She doesn't know them. And she certainly did not make any attempt to rescue him. I'm sure she had the skills to mount a quiet rescue. When she saves Zuko (and company) later, everyone cheers her but the situation was similar. Would she have helped them escape if Zuko hadn't been with them? People also point out how much she's grown as a person during the show and that is why she was able to do that. Yet, I don't see it as anything other than her innate selfishness coming to the fore. Zuko meant something to her. Apparently, her brother did not. She had no reason to think that Azula wouldn't kill her when she saved Zuko, and yet she still risked herself. For something she wanted.

Anyway, it really doesn't matter what I say. People will feel how they feel.

I don't think it's so much that only Zuko could have meant something to her, but that Zuko was an example to her. Mai's established as using an "I don't care" attitude to shield herself from everything. Zuko is a person she can admit to caring for. Then he does what he does, telling her it's the right thing.

Would she have saved everyone if Zuko hadn't been with them? Zuko's the only person who opened her eyes to the possibility the should be saved. For the rest of her life the Fire Nation is always right.

So I think it's not so much that Mai didn't care until the Zuko moment but a combination of her caring and seeing a way out by example that before she had completely closed herself off from so it wouldn't even occur to her because it was hopeless. Zuko was the opposite of her own attitude, but she was always attracted to that.

It's Dynasty Warriors, a series of beat 'em up games based on famous warriors and leaders from China's Three Kingdoms era.

It is awesome.

The games are great fun, and the canon can be enjoyed on any level from silly crack to historic serious business. Caution: may be highly addictive.
