117. I was born and raised Catholic, and though I subsequently decided that it was not for me, I still get really, really pissed off when people bash Catholics, both inside and outside of fandom. I think most of us know many wonderful people of many faiths and non-faiths in real life. What happens to this when people hop online?

117. A lot of people in fandom like to believe they are edgy and different. And one of the best ways to do this is to become a radical atheist/pagan and bash monotheistic religion, especially Christianity. I have no problem with people who don't believe in God or are pagan or whatever, but I don't bash your beliefs so kindly leave mine alone. We're all here to enjoy the cartoons and TV shows, kthx.

If you're a genuine atheist, all I'd ask is that you show some basic respect for others religious beliefs. I don't mind discussing religion, but it irks me when people insult me personally for believing in God (i.e. "Only idiots believe in a magical sky-man." or anything along those lines). I'm not trying to convert you (hypothetical you here) please don't try to convert me.
