It most definitely was not about any non-American work or non-American definition of diversity, and that didn't stop anon from going in on their opinion

Which is fine, I don't think that's wrong, I just think it's hypocritical to do it while bitching about Americans doing the same thing

There is no indication in the secret that it's only talking about American authors. You're just assuming that. It could for example also be talking about shows like The Witcher. And maybe anon felt the need to share their opinion about this because they've come across more than a few Americans who seem to think the universe revolves them. Because every non-American on the internet encounters those people on a pretty regular basis.
