There are things I liked about Bly but the pacing just seemed really off compared to Hill House. And there just weren't enough genuinely spine-chilling moments to make it feel like it was horror-adjacent. I don't need shit jumping out at me, but even the subtle scares just didn't do it as much. Overall, the explanation for the haunting of the house just wasn't as satisfactory as Bly. I did like the two love stories though, even with the tragedy that befell both.

I know the fandom is divided on it and it seems to be the fashionably done thing to prefer Hill House but I genuinely do. I could watch Hill House over and over but I just haven't got the same urge to revisit Bly.

i didn't hate bly manor, and there are even little bits of it i really enjoyed. but compared to hill house it barely cuts it as a whole piece. i feel you.

damn i wanna rewatch hill house now lmao

I watched both and enjoyed them for different reasons, but I have no urge to rewatch them because they both made me horribly sad. I wasn't expecting to cry as much as I did while watching Hill House or Bly Manor.

I did enjoy Bly but Hill House really was better. The only parts that stuck with me were the housekeeper seeing the mysterious crack all over the house and The Romance of Certain Old Clothes.

i wondered why i wasn't liking bly as much as i liked hill house, and then i heard it described as a gothic romance and it made sense (i haven't liked other stories with that description either). i could never really call it bad, the characters and actors are all great and there were parts of the story and even episodes i really loved, but it didn't click with me the way hill house did at any point.

I'm actually rewatching Bly right now and I can sort of understand where you're coming from I guess?

Bly is more gothic romance with slow creeping horror, not... ~*~HORROR~*~ like Hill House has. I love them both but I feel like you can't really compare them?

I don't find Bly boring at all, but that's just me and not everyone likes the same stuff.

Super excited for Midnight Mass though!
