Oh, yeah, definitely. I first read these books when I was about 14 and I was ALL IN on the romance. Now that I'm hitting thirty? It hits a lot differently. I still love these books but I have incredibly complicated feelings on this pairing. I loved Daine and Numair as a kid and shipped them hard. As an adult, I go 'wtf Numair, I don't care how much she wants you, shut her down, that's gross', but there's always a part of me that's weirdly fond of the ship anyway, just because when I was Daine's age, I was totally on her side of things.

This is me. I hadn't thought about this series in forever, but yeah, looking at it as an adult, it's pretty skeevy on Numair's part.

Eh, I'm not knocking you for it. Sometimes we all get to know a beloved story a little differently as time goes by, but some things still remain enjoyable and fond even now.
