156 - Yes! I don't mind that they retconned his attempted rapes from the pilot, it's the damn woobie Chuck, Blair/Chuck bullshit ~drama~ that gets me. Less Chuck, Chuck/Blair angst, more of what they were doing in the first season (B and C conniving, fighting, fucking and flirting and more Non-Judging Breakfast Club). The emphasis on Chuck is not working for me, but that's what the fangirls want so Savage and company are going to give it to them. Yuck.

I totally agree! The fearsome foursome working together towards the end of the first season was the best part of the show for me, but I've always preferred friendship narratives to relationship drama (friendships can have just as much complications, as many layers). I feel as if quite a few characters are not getting the development they deserve for the sake of Chuck Angst, and the Eyes Wide Shut thing was just embarrassing.

I also wish the assault on Jenny wasn't retconned, but dealt with. Seeing Dan hang out with his sister's molester was just painful. I'm not saying that Chuck should be a 2-D villain, but at least we could see WHY he's no longer like that, rather than having it brushed away with, "Chuck was just being a forceful seducer, and he would have stopped." That also doesn't fit with what Blair said in the next episode, where she drew a line between Chuck's conquests and victims.

Oh, I completely forgot about that.

Though I did accept GG's retcon of Chuck, Date Rapist until you reminded me of what Blair said, a good chunk of the audience didn't, and they were doing a disservice to them, and everybody else who watches. And even with the date rapes retconned, it still didn't make sense to me for Dan and Chuck hanging out. The way I saw Chuck was even on his best behavior, only Nate and Blair could truly bear to be around him.

And I miss Nate and Chuck hanging out, though I do like Chuck's family dynamics with Serena and Eric. But, again, there are some parts in the pilot, like Chuck's assault of Serena, which is just not addressed.

But I just feel like Serena, Dan, and Nate have been missing out on development.
