103. Inuyasha helped get me into Anime as well! I watched it with my mom, and an ongoing joke is that we wold repeat Miroku's line, "Inuyasha is very cunning," every time he ran up and smashed something on the head with his sword.

110. I feel that a series becoming more gender-balanced is a valid reason to take another look at the canon. And to be honest, there are much fewer powerful female characters than male ones, so it's understandable that women would be more excited at the idea of them.

Context matters.

117. I bought the film but we haven't opened the DVD yet (which is the case for a lot of the gifts we pick up for each other. Hannukah = Eight days of presents = Lots of 9.99 deals!) I totally am looking forward to checking it out, now.

156. Well, he's not my favorite part of the show, that's for sure. I feel they indulge in melodrama too much. And a dash of melodrama is great (because it's Gossip Girl, yo!) but lately it's been self-parodically (made up word!) ridiculous.

161. I... would never see that connection. I never will. Someone is reading a VERY different Watchmen and Avatar.

So is Nite Owl Zuko? Or... wait. How is Laurie Katara? Laurie reminds me more of Zuko. And Doctor Manhattan just seems more like Katara. How is that.... gnar!?

169. Uh. Honestly, I feel that Wolfram and Yuuri, if they were to get together, wouldn't do so by the end of the series. Though they are adolescents in appearance, they both seem to be about the stage of twelve-year-olds, romantically. I like things as they are, with Yuuri at least admitting that Wolfram and Greta are now his family.

Thanks for saying this for me, I couldn't quite figure out how to word it myself.

Also, I find your efforts to sort out who's who in the Avatar-Watchmen comparison to be admirable if not futile!

110. I think people need to be careful when they construct a false dichotomy such as stating, "If you feel one thing about A, you should feel the same thing about B." Sometimes they do have a point and are revealing another's hypocrisy. But other times I feel as if in doing so they are often completely missing the point.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA THAT'S GENIUS

We did it during the Inuyasha/Kagome squabbles, too. I know Inuysha probably isn't the best Anime ever, but I still find it completely enjoyable.

i agree with what you're saying but that's actually not my point. what i was annoyed at was the criticism of fans who were perhaps attracted to the series because of the "bishies" or whatever when the same people criticizing them would be just as attracted to the "hot girls" (because a lot of people commenting focused on the fact that girl!russia was HOT, not a potential strong female character) in the series if they existed. i don't mind that they're more excited by the idea of there being more girls in the series, but they shouldn't criticize those who are attracted to it for the boys. idk, i just think people should be allowed to like things for whatever reason without being looked down for it.

Ok, that view makes much more sense.

Are we talking about the same girl Russia, with the musket and the bottle of vodka?
The comments I saw more implied she was badass and awesome...
