So what you're saying is that Watchmen is the next on the list of generally inapplicable things that should never be compared to the Avatar ship war but have anyway by overzealous Zutarians? Good to know!

What I'm saying is that it doesn't flippin' matter. People are going to make comparisons to anything and everything and no one can stop anyone from doing so. Hell, most of the responders didn't even see the connection until the OP addressed it. And we've even watched some movies in Capstara chats where I definitely did not see the Zutara (although I enjoyed them anyway). Like I said, meaningless to even try and bring that up when it doesn't even matter.

The point is not that the OP is trying to stop it, the point is that it's freaking annoying and obnoxious, and your whole attitude towards it just drives the point home.

No shit it's annoying at times. Let's take a look at Twilight, shall we? The Twilight fangirls quite often compare their TWU LUV story of Edward and Bella to well written love stories (I've seen one compare it to Pride and Prejudice and wanted to kill something, for instance), but they're far from true - much like a comparison between the love triangles in Avatar and Watchman would be from what I gather from the comments (I've never read Watchman, though it is on my reading list). Am I going to bitch about that? No because there'd be no stopping them and it'd be pointless to try. Yeah it's annoying when a comparison doesn't make sense. But it's like wank in the same way you have to avoid when you can and ignore if you can't. That's the way I see it anyway.

well, if I know something is batshit, I'm going to call it batshit. It may still happen anyway, but if it's common sense that it's fucking stupid, the majority of sane people would say these comparisons are retarded. Therefore, doesn't really make sense to say "HAY DON'T SAY ANYTHING BECAUSE IT'S GONNA HAPPEN ANYWAY!"

Twilight is retarded as shit, and people still love it. Doesn't mean that the majority of people can't say that it's shit. It's not trying to change minds, it's just saying it's plain out dumb, and that's a generally accepted fact. Sorry, that's the way the cookie crumbles. 8)

Well, it's more, it doesn't matter so raising a stink ain't gonna change it. I acknowledge that there likely will be some kind of comparison made (especially now that the OP has pointed it out *rolls eye*). Bringing it up and bitching about it is only going to create wank which no one wants (or at least, all the sane people I know don't).
