are there other similar shows that have flawed characters like that that she likes? if not, it might be that she doesn't like characters with more flaws than virtues as protagonists. not everyone enjoys them.

honestly the shows that came out contemporaneously were very different than before, in that most shows before either made fun of unlikeable characters, or made them antagonists with brief moments of humanity or made them secondary characters. contemporaneous shows tended to deliberately turned that dynamic upside down which was compelling THEN, but is more de rigueur now. we've settled into unlikeable irony now.
