That's been obvious for a while now, but not because of yesterday. That was just a troll. Trans women have some supporters here, but the place is openly transphobic against trans men and nonbinary people. They're all cis girls with internalized misogyny, don't you know *sage nod* And headcanoning any character as trans (male or female) is reinforcing gender stereotypes.

Okay, now I feel like I've been missing things. Admittedly, I'm not around all the time, but I don't think I've seen something that around here for a while.

Not that you need to, but if you can, would you give a more specific example so I can check it out?

I’ve seen some of that too. But to F!S’s credit, there’s pretty much always other people to call transphobes out. So that proves that the community is not transphobic itself, it’s just a vocal minority. And most of that minority are probably trolls anyway.

I do remember that time a couple of months ago(I’ll look it up in a second) where some transphobes came out of the woodwork in response to the always fun(sarcasm) topic of trans women competing with cis women in sports. There was plenty of fine discussion with non-transphobes, and some great points about people who are completely against it using blanket generalizations instead of considering and discussing crucial factors like weight class.

But there was some awfulness coming from bigots. And one nasty piece of work tried to speak for all lesbians while denying that trans women were women. And as a lesbian myself, I wasn’t having it.

Like I said, I’ll have to look back to find the details.

I was wrong, it didn’t start out with trans women in sports, it just got there later.

And all this is from one secret a couple of months ago. But I have seen a couple of other examples when I was going through the 2019 archive last year. That would take a lot longer to find, so I don’t know if I’ll bother.

Either way, I may have provided some TERF Takes, but I included the threads to all these examples to also provide proof that the majority of Fandom Secrets is not transphobic. Look at all the people calling the TERFs out, and giving great points. This community is not just the vocal extremists or trolls, it’s so much more. And I think it’s more positive than negative most of the time. Some people seem to enjoy being mean for no apparent reason, but they don’t speak for everyone.
