Admittedly I'm biased against Riverdale and its creator personally because I just wasn't a fan of shows with everyone hating each other and being petty as heck, but perhaps there's something to be said about the way each show handles (or fails to handle) heavy themes. Maybe execution is the key factor?

It's not a quality thing, it's that the last thing I remember about AoT was giants eating people and big walls. Are the humans doing a genocide against the giants? Are the giants a weapon of genocide? I have no context for this issue because I only watched the first season.

Meanwhile on Riverdale Archie has war flashbacks and maybe there are alien abductions and I'm like... what?

It's just a state of total confusion.

Everyone on the island had the potential to be a Titan. They're a Jewish analogue who eat people and used to rule the world.

Then why would the other titans eat them? Why isn't anyone aware of how they can turn into giants? Why doesn't it happen all the time, everyone is so stressed out. How does any of this explain building those walls with their tech level?

Like, if it's a metaphor running on fairytale logic that's fine but What The Fuck.

Anyway, what a wild course that story took.

I just know they're Jewish analogues who used to rule the world thanks to a single woman who was a slave with her tongue cut out becoming the First Titan, and then her daughters were forced to cannibalize her when she died for the slavemaster husband she loved for some reason (????) just so they could breed more Titans and it's really fucked up. If it's supposed to be nuanced "genocide is bad" then the whole "Jews Eldians ruled the world" bit is extremely out of touch.

I don't have a horse in this race one way or the other, but I'm having a wild day realizing the story I liked about friendship and sacrifice and flipping through the air with giant razer blades went places I wasn't expecting.
