Hooray for buying your first ever lawnmower! May it serve you very well for many years to come.

Thanks, and boy I hope so. The last mower I actually had permanently at my place (hand-me-down from a coworker) lasted about one summer. This one has a 5 year warranty, so I will hopefully be good for at least that long. =)

Unless my yard is cursed, but considering that I have so many little animals hanging out there (I found a teeny adorable frog among the leaves on my rose of sharon earlier) I sometimes feel like a Disney princess. ...Although to be fair, a lot of them wind up cursed for awhile.

Oh no! One summer is not nearly long enough for any lawnmower to last! D: The five-year-warranty on new!mower sounds promising, though.

And, aww. How sweet to hear that your yard attracts so many little critters and cuties! Ours is too much of a shoebox to draw in anything but bugs and sparrows (and mysteriously, the occasional cherry tomato? cherry tomatoes tend to start growing at random in our yard, and we have no idea how), but we do have more than enough little animals indoors to make up for the lack of ones outside, haha.

It's kind of hilarious really. Besides the frogs, there's a brush pile that I know at least one family of rabbits has been living in for a couple years, plus I've seen a garter snake, possums, a woodchuck, and very rarely a mole who came above ground. There are a few holes that chipmunks dart in and out of, usually at least one family of robins grows up in one of the trees every year, and squirrels love the walnut trees. While I was talking to my dad about the mower today, he was getting distracted by a chipmunk running around me, in fact. For awhile there was a particular cat who would show up and follow me around while I was gardening, and that was after the one who showed up at our door on multiple cold rainy nights and we just let her in and she stayed. (While I also have several indoor critters, I am not complaining about them hanging around me outside too!)

Sadly the plant life is not quite so useful - random cherry tomatoes would be a welcome change from the garlic mustard that's taking up more and more of the groundspace. -_- But my indoor buns appreciate the dandelions and clover and plantain and wild carrot that it HASN'T displaced yet.

A family of rabbits! Living in your yard? That might possibly be the best thing ever. I'd be thrilled if I one day while going through my yard stumbled across a little bunnyhome under a pile of brush. And how delightful that the bunnies aren't even the extent of it! It really does sound like you have the back yard of a Disney princess. So many fuzzy animals! It must be so nice to be surrounded by them both inside and out :D

The gradual takeover of garlic mustard sounds so terrible, though! It's so annoying how aggressively and everywhere some plants end up growing. I hope its gradual takeover (?) doesn't ever get in the way of all the dandelions and clover that your indoor buns enjoy so much, fingers crossed.

Definitely one of the cutest things ever. I saw a young rabbit (probably adolescent) last winter in addition to the adults that had been hanging around my yard sporadically for the last year, which wasn't surprising since there were often two or three - and when it saw me, it always sprinted INTO my back yard instead of away. Finally saw it going into the brush pile once when I was coming out of the house. And I watched that one, or others that were about the same age, get bigger as spring advanced...

Then I went out one day and there was a tiny baby I could've held in one hand sitting by some fencing I'd just put up beside the brush pile. I saw that little cutie almost every day for a couple months, sometimes flopped down on its side all relaxed, until it was about as big as the previous young bun.

Haven't seen them lately, but I've seen, er, indications that there are still rabbits about. ;)

Aww, that's just the sweetest! They must really feel so at home in your yard. How wonderful that you've gotten to watch them start out all tiny by the fencing only to grow over spring. I'm glad to hear there're indications that they're still about. :D
