So around 2000 years before the main story, a little village was pillaged by the Eldians, the ancestors to all Titans and the main protags. Ymir, not the one in the main story but a different one, was a survivor. Like the rest of the survivors of that pillaging, her tongue was cut out. As a slave, she let some pigs go, was caught because the other slaves sold her out. So she was hunted for sport, but found a giant tree, hid beneath, fell into a sinkhole and became a Titan in the liquid beneath when something fused with her. With her new power, instead of like. Running, she went back and gave her services to the king, Fritz, and cultivated the land, built bridges, etc. She also conquered for him. For a 'reward,' she was made into a concubine and they had three daughters. She later died in service to him, and her children were forced to cannibalize her remains. He then basically commanded these girls to continuously reproduce to have Moar Titans.

Also, Ymir for some reason loved her husband despite him treating her horribly and as a tool and it honestly felt very victim-blamey because like. Who the fuck doesn't get that kind of power and run away from her abusers, silly woman in love.

AYRT
Oh my god, thank you for explaining, I never would have guessed the victim blaming was on original Ymir. That's fucked up.

I think it would have been fine if Original Ymir's entire thing wasn't that she was basically imprisoned as a spirit for 2000 years because she... Loved her horrible husband???
