I think I read somewhere that this was the actress’s way of declining to appear in any spinoff or revival.

I agree, her death was very affecting. The discussion Xander had about it later added a lot of the punch, though.

I thought so too, OP. I adored Anya to bits, and the way she died was so real. That's what happens in life, not just in war. It made her death the most affecting of all. After what she went through, how much she evolved, she died in the most sadly human way possible.

Agreed. Especially for Anya - the most human death.
