fucking nerds are the best kind of nerds!

HEy. NUMBER FIVE TOOK LIKE...EVERYTHING I'VE SAID. In this community. Ew, I feel so cheated. Gross. :( Dirty dirty dirty

Be original, number five ;_;

9.) Hey, it's people like you that keep things less dramatic ♥

4.) I played at Cross_University before it turned into the City of Cross, and yeah, the reason I left was because it became really dramatic and OOC for everyone. And I'm probably one of the most laid-back, non-caring roleplayers ever. At one point one manly character D8 from *WONT NAME THE MANGA* was getting kidnapped and raped as a random plot device T___T so i withdrew my own characters from the game. I had great fun when it all first started back in August 06 at Cross University, though, when Gai was the counselor and Itachi was there and there was uh. Well, just better and earlier incarnations of characters.

NUMBER 5 EW :( WHY

♥ You just worded it really well. I asked if I could quote you. I really could not find a better way to describe fandom and RP fighting. :)

4.) Being a former player there (seriously, way back when it was still [livejournal.com profile] crossuniversity), I can safely say that the people I played with are probably the farthest thing from emo kids or scenewhores. I don't really know what's become of it now, but it was some good times and I've made so many awesome friends because of it. :( As for the OOC-ness, why should it honestly matter to the players themselves whether they are or not? The point of an RP is mainly to have fun -- sure, it's important to be IC but overall, if you're enjoying the interaction and the activity there it shouldn't be of any great concern.

Then again, I can't really say anything because I know my characters were OOC when I was playing there, lol. [/tl;dr]

11.) IZ DAT SUM STEPHEN KING?! ♥_♥ I read Thinner all the way back when I was FOUR! I love his work to bits and pieces~

[identity profile] ew-younerd.livejournal.com 2007-03-23 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
4.) Hur, I was Gai (from Naruto-the counselor) and James (from Pokemon) back at Cross University, and it was cracky at times but it was also really fun and kept in line. 8D It then got way out of hand. WAY out of hand. But as long as people are still having fun~?

Nice placement on 4 and 5! XD

1. That would drive me nuts.

2. DUDE, I KNOW. And the weirdest thing is, everyone I know who's watched or even seen that show has never commented on it?

10. My "art" consists of stick figures and I can't draw worth a crap, but I don't find good artists' complaining to be necessarily purposely insulting. I think some people honestly aren't aware of their talent or are self-conscious and say, "This sucks," as a kind of safety measure. That said, this secret reminds me of when I'll be cruising around on DeviantArt and find really, really good art...and it's labeled as "scrap." What.

4. That actually only applies to a little over half the members. I joined recently for a friend and because the character I play there is my favorite to play, period. I always play mine in character, personally. And everyone at the community that I have had my character interact with is either in character or so in character that it makes me cry.

Yes, there are people there who blow things way out of proportion and are more or less troublemakers. But that does not necessarily mean that the entire RP is shit. I have met some wonderful people, both as people and rpers. I joined the rp being well aware of what was in store, and I am enjoying myself.

Ditto on that. Though yes, there ARE quite a few people who are extremely ooc, when you put that aside it is fun and enjoyable.

I only bash my own work when I hit a slump. (though that slump is happening more often.)

What I don't understand is artists who whine and bitch and bellyache about their art and people not viewing it and they think it's crap but yet it's on the DTF of some art site like dA or Y!G.

[identity profile] fuckyeah.livejournal.com 2007-03-23 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)

it is true, there are a bit of dramatics that have come and gone, but all communities suffer from that it seems.

since when are AU multi fandom games ever wholy ic?

evorything always has its good and bad side.

not that my actions ever afected anyone there though.

[identity profile] chaoticchicken.livejournal.com 2007-03-24 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
1. Word. Except I have the opposite problem - they think they're horrible writers just because they don't get reviews. I must be thinking about the old days when people actually wrote for fun and entertainment and less to get praise and fulfillment through others' approval.

5. SOME PEOPLE RP REAL PEOPLE. LIKE... LIKE CHUCK NORRIS.

11. Lawlz, he's in Maine. And you don't want to be there. X( I totally start conversations by telling people about how I used to live a few blocks from him.

2. He truly is disgusting. D:

5. That's EXACTLY what it looks like. XD RP SERIOUS BUSINESS!

8. As scary as it is, it's also very refreshing to get into a different and better fandom. You may lose some people... but the people you lose are those who are not worth it (honestly, why only be friends with a person just because you like something?); the ones you keep are the ones that matter. :)

[identity profile] klytaemnestra.livejournal.com 2007-03-24 01:16 am (UTC)(link)

1. Some people really think they have to do this. I'm not sure why either. If I'm friends with you you needn't try to prove your worth or something by your fanfic/fanart stats. I don't care.

2. My sister and brother watched that show like crazy. But really, who could kiss that man? Ick!

3. Upcoming movie. Eva Green. Mm ... I'll be there.

8. I recently bailed on one of my oldest fandoms and am really liberated to be away from it. A change of atmosphere is great and makes you really rethink stuff and such. A year ago I was a really snarky fan and now I'm not really sure why. Someone asked me a few days ago about said fandom's OTP and I was all, 'Oh ... you know about eight months ago I could have written you a manifesto on them ... now, I really have no clue.' So yeah, change is good and highly reccommended. If they're really your friends then they'll honour your decision, if not then they're probably just 'fans' who will simply move onto the next person who'll provide them with what they want.

10. Most artists are like that, though. I think my stuff sucks, most of my artist friends think their stuff sucks and it's really a personal issue. You spend sometimes up to 15 hours working on one piece of art and you know all the flaws, you get sick of seeing and declare its suckage. However, I love a lot of random art that others produce. I think most artists are just critical on themselves and not on others. I don't look at other's art and nitpick and see a host of flaws. My own ... yeah, everytime I look at it. i have a lot of personal issues against my art because I'm slightly OCD and really critical on my own creative works and cannot for the life of me lighten up enough to just draw a random sketch. Now, the artists who think they're great and demand to be fawned over ... those worry me a lot. Most artists do hate their own stuff. It's why they're artists. Lol.

3. ME TOO! Somebody bought me the whole trilogy for Christmas one year. I feel so guilty about not finishing them, because they were hardcovers and this was when the set was just released (meaning it was hella expensive), but the first book was so boring I couldn't bring myself to read the other two.

8. They're not very good friends if they ditch you just because you've become disinterested in the fandom.

10. Guilty as charged.

I think it's really a healthy thing, though. If you sit around and complain about your ability, not so much, but you won't get better if you don't realize your mistakes and try to fix them next time. I don't really hate my stuff but I know I could do a lot better if I spent more time on my pictures and as the person who worked on it I can see all its flaws, which is pretty normal in the art community. We all hate our work. :p I kick myself every time I criticize my own drawings in the descriptions but it's become a habit; I don't even realize I do it anymore.

[identity profile] stormbringer986.livejournal.com 2007-03-24 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
3. I really liked it the first time I read them, but I can't even make it 20 pages into the first book a second time. And that's sad coming from someone who regularly re-reads books 6 times. I hope the movies don't suck as much ass as the Narnia and Eragon movies did...although Eragon just flat out sucked anyway.

5. Nerd fights crack me up. If you ever come across a nerd war, those are even better as long as you can keep from being pulled into the idiocy.

8. Sometimes it's a good thing to get away from old fandoms. It's still kinda depressing though, unless you leave it on bad terms.
I know what you mean about wondering "WHAT THE HELL WAS I DOING?" though. I've done that with quite a few old fandoms, and with the God-awful Sues/self-inserts I used to write in middle school. I wish I could go back in time and break my own arm to keep myself from writing them. The only consolation I have is that I never finished them or posted them anywhere.
