(Anonymous) 2021-10-04 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)I think it's a puzzle/bullet-hell type of game. The battle system is turn-based, you have to dodge your enemy bullets with your soul (heart-shaped), and at your turn, you can choose to attack or to act, with act you can figure out how to pacify your enemies. There are some light puzzles as well. Both games are alike, but Deltarune is an involved version of the gameplay of Undertale.

But I will forgive a multitude of RPG sins for an interesting battle system and a good soundtrack (and I've heard a few Undertale tracks at video game music concerts, it seems pretty solid).

(Anonymous) 2021-10-04 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)I should also mention it is short as hell, maybe 5 or so hours on average. But as mentioned, you can go full pacifist, or do some version of a neutral route (maybe "pacifist" neutral or "kill some number but not all enemies" neutral), or you can just go full genocidal. Pacifist can't be achieved until a neutral route is completed, but if you go "pacifist" neutral (meaning, kill no enemies), I believe you'll complete pacifist sooner. Well, that was a lot of words to say there is variety.
And it also depends if you're the kind of person who likes to check out every little thing.
I'll mention I'm not a total fan of having to fight in real time unless it's like MMORPGs, but I let it slide here.
