Another group of friends who may or may not love you beyond whatever interest you share?
This is what I really wish people would realize. Similar interests might make it easier for you to go out and talk to someone, but it does not mean solid friendships. All of my best friends in real life, with the exception of one, have no interests in getting anywhere near some of the things I like (and the one I do share interests with, well, we originally were friends for about two years with no intersts, and then we both tried getting into some new stuff and found ourselves liking it a lot).
Not saying that fandom friends can't be great friends, but I've been in a few fandoms over the years, and the fandom friends I've kept were the ones I liked as people, regardless of if we even share the same fandoms or not anymore.

But whatever, I keep telling myself that if people want to dump their good friends for their hobbies then so be it. It's a miserable way to live one's life but it won't stop me from finding more people to live mine with.
