The high-schoolers I can somewhat excuse, since they don't have things like the right to vote and are protected by special laws. But what bothers me is when this behavior continues into college and after that. That last quote on my secret? It came from someone in their mid-twenties. By then you should really be aware of the world and how you affect it.

That attitude was not created by fandom, and it certainly doesn't stop with young people. I know plenty of uninformed adults who aren't in their twenties. Women in their sixties who only vote the way their husbands do, men in their forties who don't have time to pay attention to news, people of all ages who indulge in hobbies instead of doing productive things. It's not uncommon.

You think teenagers/college students didn't doodle or procrastinate before the nineties? Talk to a teacher who's been around for a while and you'll see that's not true.

You're generalizing the hell out of an entire generation and fandom using your own limited experiences, which is incredibly ignorant and ageist.

I think you need take time to inform yourself and stop sticking your nose in everybody else's business like a presumptious, arrogant snob.
