150. Support of socialist governments/leaders that aren't on good (or in the case of Castro, any) diplomatic terms with the US != being against gay rights. I don't even see how you could connect those two things. Try doing a little research before jumping to conclusions. Situations in many, many areas of the world are not the way they're portrayed in the filtered, edited American news media.

Educate yourself, OP. (These links are just starters, a Google search will give you much, much more information.) Venezuela is on a similar level to the United States on the legal aspects of LGBT rights (social acceptance is another thing, but hell, we're still working on that here), and the situation is far from perfect in Cuba, but Raul Castro's daughter is a LGBT rights activist, and sex change operations are available for FREE. That has to count for something, and it proves you wrong in assuming that it makes someone a hypocrite if they support both LGBT rights and these leaders/governments.

If you read the rest of my comment instead of reacting to the links, you'd see that I said these are places to START in reading up on this issue. It's common knowledge that Wikipedia is user-edited, and I assumed anyone reading this would also know and use it as a jumping-off point to do research of their own. (Also, there are legitimate citations in both of the articles I linked, I wouldn't have linked them otherwise.)

I don't want to get into an argument about Cuba and communism and Castro, and I'm not the OP, but I think they're seeing it as a matter of human rights in general, not just LGBT rights in Cuba. That Penn wants to apologize for Castro and at the same touts civil rights for gays and lesbians in the US, while in Cuba they've been sent to conversion camps. I know very little on the situation there, but hearing my Cuban-American roommate talk about the treatment her gay aunt still faces in Cuba shut me right the hell up from praising Penn's acceptance speech.

Just a theory as to where the OP is coming from.
