That's great and all, it really is, but it's still a dry read. All this worship of something being the originals of whatever genre or whatnot just reminds me of Dadaists and why I don't care for that art period at all. Being the first to think of an idea doesn't make you a god, it just means you think outside the box or had the balls to be vocal about what a lot of people were thinking. Worshiping the creator or the final product makes you no better than everyone else they were originally striving to be different than. Of course, this doesn't entirely apply to Watchmen since they just wanted to tell a story, but one cannot forget it by looking at the fans.

For the record I liked Watchmen well enough to read it all, and the movie seems like it will be a blast.
