*except I didn't stop watching. I would argue that RE wasn't a villain character, though, or at least not the main one of the season. That said, they never managed one as compelling as the cardinal.

Given where Capaldi took his DW turn, I think I'd have preferred he stuck to Three Musketeers too.

Even if I didn't necessarily like everywhere that Capaldi's run went, I did appreciate the reminder that the Doctor can freely snark at companions. There's a reason 9 and 12 are my favorites of New Who. Plus, he gave us an older Doctor, which was definitely needed.

Oooh, I did like him as a villain, definitely the strongest they had. Maybe it's time for a re-watch.

I think I liked the last season fine, but I agree, there was no antagonist like the cardinal (and tbqf milady de winter was used best with him too).
