Riverdale!B5 is a much more interesting concept to me than HBO!B5. I don't think it would necessarily be a better show, or a good show. I'm not even saying that I would definitely watch it. But it's at least something that's genuinely different than everything else on TV today, and that alone makes it more interesting to me.

Of course hopefully it'll be something that's interesting and novel, and also good.

If Riverdale Babylon 5 doesn't have hot teen Londo and G'Kar having a bitter but sexy rivalry I'm not interested.

Also make Commander Ivanova and Talia Winters finally kiss onscreen.

Personally, the news that anything is going to be on the CW is enough to instantly torpedo any hope I ever had that it would be good. I'm trying to think of a single CW show I've watched that I thought was actually good--not tolerable but good--and I can't.

I've never watched Babylon 5, but given everything I've heard about it, I totally get why it being on the CW would be a major disappointment for fans of the show in its original run.

I have issues with HBO, in that I find the vast majority of their programming very cynical, and I just don't vibe with that ethos. I love dark, complex storytelling, but I think you can do that without throwing the baby out with the bathwater by going all the way into cynical territory. That said, HBO at least tends to have solid writing, directing, and acting--even if it's not to my personal taste. I'd take an HBO revival of a show I liked over a CW revival, every time.

Oh. CW took it. That is... disappointing. Their shows have such a strong aesthetic that I just can't enjoy them. It worked for the first batch of shows and now they are cramming everything into the same mold and it just doesn't work.

Kind of OT, but I think Legends of Tomorrow deserves some recognition for mostly shaking off the CW mold. I'm not sure it proves that other shows can do likewise (at least not without turning into LoT camp-fests), but I guess there is at least one counter-example.

I loved B5 but thought the dialogue was usually pretty terrible and imagining that + HBO boobs 'n' swears is hilarious but also very DNW.

I'm just praying it will have a Legends of Tomorrow crossover.

Obviously the reboot is going to suck, that isn't even in question, but it is just choosing how it sucks and I hope they have the balls to go out in a blaze of glorious failure singing the thong song and whomever the new Ivanova is having a threesome with Katy Lotz and Jess Macallan.
