129 - I have to wonder how really turned onto feminism you were before. I mean, really, if you were into it, and spent a lot of time examining things with a feminist lens, paying attention to both the world and the media, I have a hard time believing that you'd be so impatient with people who bring their feminism to fandom.

On the other hand, if you weren't really into feminism to start with, it gives you a pretty good excuse, doesn't it?

149 - ...whut. I. Wasn't that the point? Diva was only like she was because of her socialization--and Saya was like she was because of hers. They could have both been the other with just a little twist of chance. Or they both could have been evil. Or they both could have been like Saya, if they'd just both had someone to teach them how to be human. The idea someone could miss that is pretty baffling.

See, people like you are the problem. You treat feminism like it's some kind of exclusive club instead of an ideology.

Being a feminist doesn't mean you have to automatically agree with, or even like, other feminists.

...Where did I say that? Excuse me? I get the feeling that you're projecting a little, because I never said she had to agree with anything.

What I said was that if the fact other people expressing their feminism in a way that she doesn't personally agree with was enough to turn her off, then I doubt she was that committed. I'm not kicking her out of the club. She's using strawfeminists to excuse herself from it.

These things are not the same.

The person treating it like an exclusive club, IMO, is the one who has decided for herself that she doesn't like/agree with/approve of/whatever the behavior of some, and has chosen to remove herself because of it. She set up some arbitrary standards of belonging, and used those to distance herself. I fail to see how that means anyone else is the problem.
