111. If it were just main pairings, I'd agree, but excluding every and all mention of the gay from their fic, plus asking people who've written slash before to watch their words, that's pretty hard core.

Where's the link saying to watch their words? The most I've been able to find is this quote from the welcome post:

We're not against slash, we just ship het and wanted a comm centering around those pairings :-) Of course you can, go wild! :-P

Centering. So saying absolutely ZERO slash should not exist makes no sense.

If you want to join that comm and have ever written slash, you're quite nicely contacted by email to explain yourself. And then it's pointed out that any kind of slash, even background, is not welcome. I didn't join the comm, but others have and apparently people have been punished for so much as suggesting a sexual tension between Arthur and Merlin, even jokingly.

Whoa, hang on, is that true? Because I write boyslash and girlslash for HP fandom, as well as het, all posted quite publicly in my journal, and no one contacted me when I joined the place.

If that's happened to anyone that's INCREDIBLY skeevy, but it didn't happen to me. Maybe the mods have eased off? I haven't been in fandom very long.

FFS, I joined at the time because I wanted to find some rarepair fic; I didn't realise there was all this crap going on.

I joined and am waiting to see if I get that in my inbox/e-mail. If so.... I mean... jeez. :C I'd make a separate comm: merlin_het but without the NO GAY ANYWHERE EVER thing. WTF, all the Merlin slash comms allow het going on. \0/

It happened to me, that's all I can say. I would be pretty pissed off if I was singled out for some reason :(

Srsly, that comm is barely active anyway. I might just drop it; I've been wanting to start a general rarepair (slash or het) community/recsletter for a while now anyway -- I think fandom needs one, but with my HP commitments I haven't been sure I would have time to keep it active. And some of the pairing-centric communities are getting more active and doing challenges and things, so it might not be necessary at this point.

A general rare_pair comm/recsletter would be really cool. I haven't been very active in the fandom lately and this was just, you know, one of those coming-out-of-my-shell moments. To find this kind of attitude maybe sent me spinning a little more than it should have, because I'm sort of tentative about fandom in general :( You have no idea how much easier it is for me to just be an anonymouse :((
