It is, but as someone that has had fanatic feminists in my face quite often...I really understand and don't blame some people from being turned off. You associate things with other things -- and if they association is negative, some people aren't going to stick around; they don't like the uncomfortable feeling or reminder or whatever the negative association brings.

Eh, I don't know. I've had run-ins with a thoroughly obnoxious GLBT club at my school ("If you disagree with our club statements/decisions, you're homophobic. Period. Even if you're gay."), but I'd be ashamed if that turned me off from gay rights.

Yeah, but you're not everyone, Anon. Some people will, sadly, be turned off from a cause for whatever reason, even if they might still support it.

129. But for god's sake, that's really not an excuse not to support positive aspects of the cause!

Think about the civil rights movement. Malcolm X was calling for complete separation between the races and violence--a much more harsh stance than most feminists take today. Yet civil rights activists didn't give up because they were annoyed or had their feelings hurt.

We're not facing the same kind of horrible adversity or conflict that they were facing, yet here are all these women showing up talking about how they're not going to even take the time or effort to support equality for themselves and others because a few women pissed them off. Screw equal wages, representation for women in government, and justice for rape victums, someone on the internet hurt their feelings!

It's incredibly depressing, and I really think it's a disservice to everyone when people take that attitude. And yes, it does make me angry. Angry and sad.

I never said it was an excuse; I was saying I understand and was explaining why some people feel the way they do.

So your condescending rant was unnecessary.
