Wow. All the crazy was one thing (I've seen only one episode of Firefly, but I don't need background to see how fucked up that verbiage is), but she is the most ignorantly racist person I have ever encountered on lj.

Well, that was a terrible rant.
But does the term (as it's used) apply merely to all feminists on LJ, or rather a particular kind of feminist, as in the one represented by that rant?

And that person is hardly representative of the all or even most of the feminists on LJ, and that still doesn't answer about what exactly an LJ feminist is, I would assume it would be just feminists who are on LJ.

I see her logic in it... I thought Firefly was pretty boring, and always did keep wondering why women were portrayed as second citizen's always answering to or being abused (verbally, physically, or emotionally) by the men in their lives. What if Mal's character had been a woman? What if all the men characters were genderswapped? I sometimes wonder if that would have changed things.

This made me so fucking mad. It didn't make me mad as a fan though, but as a feminist. I have no fucking problem identifying myself that way and I'm way into it, but it's people like this that give people negative connotations with the word, or make people associate feminist with "man-hating".

Also, the ignorant racism is, in my opinion, completely anti-feminist. If you think people are equal, you think people are equal, regardless of gender or race.

Also, on a side note, most feminist I know are supportive of sex-workers as long as it's their choice.

Usually an association with feminist or the various flavors of BATSHIT INSANE contained within.

(Though giving it another look, it's not complete BATSHIT INSANE every post. You get rampant misandry and "staring = tyranny" and amounts of PC which makes this fairly tolerant, politically aware social democrat think they're fucking nuts, but also discussions of abortion and sexual harassment and other such issues.)
