He’s a very good young Magneto! There are constant rumours about rebooting X Men and I’m sure it will happen someday but I doubt soon. They need to go back and figure out how they got the last couple films so wrong before they hire a new cast. And I think they really know that, but I think maybe they just can’t wrap their heads around audiences not responding to their formula the way they expected.

They should just make it a TV show. It doesn't make any sense to make it a movie. Just do a TV show.

I don't understand entertainment anymore. Everything that's a movie should be a TV show and everything that's a TV show should be a movie.

personally I miss Ian McKellen's Magneto and Patrick Stewart's Professor X

I really love those two in the roles despite the fact Ian McKellen was never quite how I imagined Magneto. It just didn't matter though.

Even though they did eventually give him a more fitting send-off, I'm still mad about that garbage "exit" they gave Patrick's Professor X in the third film.

The difference is Marvel, for the most part, has done things right. DC keeps screwing their adaptations up and having to reboot.

I think it's more that many of the DC characters have had a longer history of incarnations, maybe Hulk and Spiderman are the Marvel exceptions. But Michael Fassbender was a reboot of Magneto himself after all.

he's exactly the right type of threatening hotness, so I agree OP. I don't know who disney marvel is going to find that fits that (but honestly the way the MCU is shaping up, they may just port actors over *shrug*)

“exactly the right type of threatening hotness”

Love this wording.
I agree.

I've always found Fassbender (as Magneto or otherwise) sort of pervasively off-putting, specifically because I'm turned off by men (even fictional men) who give me threatening or aggressive vibes. But "threatening hotness" is the perfect description of Fassbender!Magneto, and I do think he'd be hard to replace because it's a vibe that works so well for the character.

With the obvious exception of Ian McKellan, I agree, OP!

I felt that way about Ian McKellen. Just happened to see Dark Phoenix the other day, half-watching while sewing, and it took me approximately forever to figure out who this guy was. Eh. Maybe if I had watched the other movies with this casting first.

But back in the early 90s when we were all fan-casting "someday they will make an X-Men movie and Patrick Stewart has to be the Prof", if I had known Ian McKellen back then, he definitely would've been right in there, he's exactly how I always pictured him.

I doubt they'll be rebooting things any time soon. Not until the comics have finished their massively racist supremacist kick at least.

I would have said the same about McKellen and Stewart, but Fassbender and Macavoy were excellent! So wait another 15-20 years and see what happenes.

I wouldn't call different Batman adaptations "reboots" for the same reason I wouldn't call different Sherlock Holmes adaptations reboots. That said, frequent new live action adaptations for superheroes isn't super common. I'd say only Superman and Spiderman come close to Batman on that front. (Which is why I feel a little bad for X-Men fans who *didn't* like that movie series because they were stuck with it for 20 years.) I'd say don't worry, but I have no idea what plans could be afoot for the X-Men and the MCU.
