Feelings re: Jekyll and Hyde and Anastasia (possible spoilers)

Okay so.

JEKYLL AND HYDE

In "Board of Governors" Jekyll is like the worst debater ever. why didn't he hire Utterson to do his appeal for him. Utterson's a LAWYER. I mean look at this:

BISHOP OF BASINGSTOKE
And what if you're right, Jekyll? And you do manage to separate
Good from Evil - What happens to the evil?

JEKYLL
There are doomed, broken souls in a thousand asylums

He just jumps to an appeal to emotion and ignores a really good point.

Also Simon Stride is a shitty fucking victorian incel.

{STRIDE}
Someday you'll regret what you just said to me!
Lisa...

{LISA}
We'll see, Sir!

fucking INCEL

*ahem* anyway onto Anastasia.

Gleb is a good antagonist but he's a shitty obnoxious love interest. His song "Still" is just him being a chauvinistic piece of shit about Anya. She's a twenty some year old woman in this, and he talks about her like a child.

"She's nothing but a child.
A waif who needs protection"

I mean sure this is the 1920s or something, so he might have an excuse. But NO Dmitry and Vladimir are no prize themselves, but I find them more likable. Even though one of them lied for years about being a noble and the other one planned to con a grieving old lady. They grow later in the story and do the right thing. Also and most importantly they treat their female love interests like the adults they ARE.

Maybe its just because infantilizing women is a pet peeve of mine

Anyway those are my thoughts.

I'm salty about J&H in general. Anthony Warlow and Linda Eder are fantastic, but, uh, the musical clearly didn't understand its source material at all...
