Just because a lot of people like something doesn't mean you will too, and that's more than fine. I personally loved the show but it won't bother me one bit if it doesn't click for other people.

Plus if you actually wanted to enjoy it I can only imagine that is sucks that you can't join in the fun.

OP

Yeah, of course it's not the end of the world. It's just people have so much fun and it doesn't click for me at all. I am mostly envious

(Anonymous) 2021-10-27 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Why don't you like it?

(Anonymous) 2021-10-28 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
Not OP but as someone on a similar boat: personally I disliked the main guy from the OG series so much that it soured the whole show for me.

In theory the show should be right up my alley and I should like the other characters, but it's like they and the whole concept of the show got tainted by association with the main guy.

As someone who loves the show and treats it as a comfort watch, I can completely see how it might not work for many people.

(Anonymous) 2021-10-28 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
I love this show, but if you don't like it then you don't like it. It's not the end of the world.

(Anonymous) 2021-10-28 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
You like what you like. But I'm curious still: what do you find annoying about it?

OP here

Going into the rant
I really hate overuse of 360° camera, it makes me dizzy. How they always explain the con even if it was shown fcking minute ago. The main guy from the original series and his angst is really boring, even without his actor being shitty person. Their romance with Sophie. I hate it so much omg.
Character's quirks don't help too. Somehow Eliot(?) is Mr. Toxic-Masculinity-I-am-not-like-other-nerds even now. Sophie not being self aware about being awful actress at the start. And so on

AYRT : While I disagree with the majority of your points there, I appreciate your clarification. Thank you.

It's cool! People do like this show and I understand that things I've named are annoying for me. It's not that I think that Leverage has some sort of -ist awfulness, just things that fans like or can ignore are not for me. (Sadly)

I love it but people tried to get me into The Librarians and Warehouse 13, which have similar vibes, and I bounced off both of them. I can't put my finger on why.

(Anonymous) 2021-10-28 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
I liked Leverage and Warehouse 13 but not The Librarians, so I agree that the formula isn't a 100% success!

DA

I liked Leverage and The Librarians but not Warehouse 13 lol.

(Anonymous) 2021-10-28 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
I like all three and they do have similar vibes, but tonally, they are slightly different. The Librarians plays up the silliness - though the other two do definitely have silliness to them, they take themselves a little more seriously. They all have some darkness to them, but Warehouse 13 has has a truly dark thread through it - it really wrestles with moral and ethical quandaries and implications sometimes. And while they all have found family themes, Leverage seems more dedicated to the whole being more than the sum of its parts.
