Oof, yeah. Clarke is A Product of His Time sometimes in just the worst ways. Good stories if you can ignore all that, but yeah.

The tragic thing is that in some ways, even socially, he was actually one of the more progressive figures of his time. When you consider some of the monsters that have written SFF in the past. But, time and understanding marches on I guess.

As a wise woman once said, "You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have the facts of life."

Or, less facetiously, time does march on, but I think that it's okay to celebrate what went right there while acknowledging what went wrong. Depending on where any individual is, personally, they might decide that the good parts aren't worth the aggravation caused by the bad parts, and that's fair. But we all have different tolerances for that stuff anyway.
