It is what growing up is like, because there is nothing more juvenile than "adult" rated fanfics with sex scenes. Once you start growing up, you realise that the forbidden fruit of actually rather boring a perfunctory sex is secondary to actually knowing characters and what is going on in their lives.

#TL;DR? Sex is boring, character interaction is where it is at.

Hmm...I don't think it's anything out of the ordinary. Everyone's tastes changes through the years. I recognize though, it can be hard to find good fics or a good variety of fics that are smut free or light on smut.

I still like sex scenes but I do think it's hard to find sex scenes that aren't just things I've seen a million times before. When people are writing sex scenes in a story just because they feel like it needs a sex scene, then yeah, I'm going to scroll by it (assuming that the non-sexy parts of the story are good enough to read, of course).

Could be that your libido has decreased with age, libido does decrease for a lot of people, but for some it doesn't.
Could be the stories - maybe the sex scenes aren't well done or don't excite you because they are something like what you've seen a lot before and you're tired of it.
Could be your mental engagement - what with everything, maybe you're depressed or distracted or stressed or some combination thereof and so your interest and ability to connect with stimulation in that manner is just at a low.

Nope, nothing to do with age. I'm closing in on 50 and hornier than ever. PWP is all I want anymore, I'm tired of shipteasing and long lingering hand-holding scenes where nothing happens, to say nothing of fandom hot takes on how the characters could get together. gimme ALL the porn and zero fluff thanks.

if your tastes are changing, you find yourself craving certain content or dynamics, that's totally cool. just don't blame something like age or adult responsibilities or whatever the fuck that first troll was on about.

I'm in my late 50s. I love PWPs and sex scenes. Read and write them all the time. I re-read the same favorite PWPs over and over even though they're full of porn cliches. Some cliches happen to make me hot.

That said, I spent the previous decade feeling all but asexual. No idea what changed. Just saying, don't expect aging to involve a straight decline from high interest in sex to zero.

I think George W Bush and Boris Johnson are the worst best representations of bi-men. They've both led sex positive and sexually available hedonistic lives, including sex with men and women, and they've both risen to the highest elected positions in their countries. Same as with Peter Thiel, who is the best worst gay representation, proving that a gay man can make it to billionaire and go right to the top of the most homophobic industry in the world. They are all godawful examples of humanity though, but are still the best representation available.
