I don't know....maybe it's better to be repetitive?! I spend a lot of time angsting over this. Also over whether or not it's obnoxious to thank people for comments more than a week or two old. :C

Yeah. When someone comments and you can't get to it for a while? Should you still comment, even after a long time has past?

Or if someone finds a fic I've written two years ago and comments: should I respond? (Opposite applies: Should I comment on a fic that I've found now that's been around for eternity, or is that weird?)

Need Commenting Etiquette Classes now.

PERSONALLY *laughs* I always love it when people comment on older fics of mine! It is actually one of my MOST FAVORITE THINGS! And I think responding to new comments is always totally fine, regardless of how old the fic is!

Now I want to go comment on all those awesome old fics I read but never left feedback on.... ^_^;

completely in agreement with ali_wildgoose. it makes me feel all gooey and special inside when i get a comment on an older fiction.

and whenever i read an older fiction, i always comment. one of my heroines in fanfiction replied to one such comment and told me how grateful she was, and that a few of my comments on her older fiction had inspired her to write after a long hiatus.

believe me, unless the writer expresses wishes for no comments, commenting is a good thing!

Personally, if I respond to a fic AND I can see that the author has responded to other people, I get a bit bummed if I don't hear back. If they're clearly not responding to anyone, I just shrug and move on...but if they've responded to some people and then not to me, I worry about what I said wrong.

I've never been annoyed myself at getting a comment from an author "late." If anything, I'm relieved because I know the silence was due to their own schedule and not Something I Said.
