It is the story of how a young man arrives at a town where SPOILERS SPOILERS OH GOD SPOILERS EVERYWHERE DO NOT READ BETWEEN THE CAPS IF YOU DON'T LIKE SPOILERS a strange curse, due to the modernization of Japan leads to places where spirits nest getting uprooted, cause the citizens of the town to A, live in a time-loop and B, go absolutely ape-shit murderously insane. In graphic ways. Horrible, horrible graphic ways. As in we get to see the young man get viciously murdered, people stab themselves in the head and how people slowly, slowly succumb into utter madness.

All drawn with the most deceptively cutesy style, to purposefully make you lower your guard.

If those kids can sleep after that, I for one am impressed. And a little terrified.

No kidding. I'm nineteen and I couldn't sleep. I ended up aimlessly wandering the house all night and, no joke, coming across things like a knife lying out on the kitchen counter and a baseball bat propped against the wall. I did not even know my brother still had his bat. He hasn't played baseball for probably five years now. It's amazing I managed to stifle my scream enough to keep from waking my family.

Holy shit, that sounds terrifying enough that even I wouldn't watch it and I'm 27. I can only imagine the kind of trauma those kids had after seeing it.

Also, what a horrible babysitter. I agree that they should be fired PDQ.

Yeah, and due to the whole thing taking place in a time-loop, with some people AWARE of what's going on, we get to see them kill each other and themselves over. And over. And over again. Each time around making the victims of the curse become more and more deranged and despairing.

In parts it's near Saw levels of gore, except even more disturbing because a.) most of the victims are children or young teens and b.) at the beginning of each time loop, before the crazy sets in, we almost always get an episode of happy sunshine-y slice-of-life stories, which just makes us that much more invested in the characters we know are doomed to die horribly over and over again.
