107. Oh please. It's like you think you're trapped in a brutal dystopia where Watchmen fans are horrific creatures of the night who sense those who are ignorant of their canon, stalk them, and... yell at them in public?

If you want to watch the Star Trek trailer but don't want to see a movie, watch the trailer on Youtube. If you don't want to read the comic, then don't read the comic. And if anyone starts screaming at you because of what you do or do not read, treat them like the psychopaths they are and give them a reality check.

127. I haven't played MGS4 yet, but wouldn't it be more sensible to blame the writer for misrepresenting cancer?

143. That reminds me that I have to see the original pilot. I really love the characters as I was first introduced to them, though.

146. ~~*dark and gritty*~~ is the most superficial aspect of what one can take from Watchmen, but it's what the comics of the 90s took from it and then proceeded to drive it into the freaking ground. I have the same reaction to those kinds of EXTREEEEME INURFACE comics, which usually aren't as daring or as smart as they want you to believe they are.

Or they become a parody of themselves like Frank Miller, writing and making the exact stuff they once were ridiculing.

I hope the high sales of things like Marvel Adventures wake the industry up to the fact a lot of readers are sick of dark and gritty all the time.

And maybe that Wolverine doesn't need to be crossed-over with everything, defying the laws of time and physics. Except when he's getting his ass handed to him by Molly Hayes; that was fun.

146. And not only because humans are yummy.

It's sad when authors come to resent what many people feel was their best work, because of the inferior copycat texts that flood the market, or because they suffer from hype aversion for their own creations (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was another case).

I love me some deconstruction, but it's too easy to just unravel something into pieces and just leave the pieces there. Deconstruction is oftentimes a prologue to reconstruction, which is much more of a challenge. How can we make the mythos WORK again?

They're probably going for the whole big-screen experience, and you never know, if they actually stay for the movie rather than walking out after the trailer, they may actually end up liking Watchmen

You have a point about the big screen experience, but I'm just irritated by secrets lamenting being dragged somewhere kicking and screaming. Just chill out and dig your heels in, if you're so against seeing something. Don't blame other people who are excited, don't blame the movie itself. It's all on you, baby.
