I can understand that; I think Moore is at his best when he creates his own material, personally (Miracleman and From Hell, FTmfW). I don't read asshole-dominant/grimdark superhero comics a whole lot, but I liked Watchmen for some reason.

I mostly read Silver Age stuff when it comes to superheroes, where it's all light-hearted, but I kind of took Watchmen as a breath of fresh air. I'll admit to hating some of the characters in the first couple chapters though, and the dreary "IT'S THE COLD WAR FUCKING EVERYONE'S AFRAID" got overbearing at times.

Whoops , meant to Post V for Vendetta rather than Miracleman. Guess that's what happens when I'm browsing a Moore fansite, derp.

I mean stuff like Halo Jones and Skizz and so on, which is his own material that he did create, just was published in 2000AD? :Da I also like some of the America's Best Comics stuff he did ... and March of the Sinister Ducks, hahaha. To my disappointment the things that they keep making into films are usually the things I don't like so much.

I prefer my superheroes lighthearted generally too, and Watchmen just ain't my thing. I read it once a while back and I've never felt inclined to read it before, and, basically, I unenjoyed it enough that I don't want to be told that I need to read it again because I'm omg missing things and obviously don't get it.
