133. Dude, I could tell that and my only other experience with Phantom is with the OST (I do intend on seeing the musical someday though - preferably before its run comes to an end). I get SO ANNOYED at how the movie's Phantom cannot hit the notes that are SPECIFIED in the goddamn musical score and that they had to adjust. >_> I don't mind it, but really, not the best.

Agreed. I still say Gerard Butler sounds like Winnie The Pooh in some sections of his "Music Of the Night". When I was fourteen, I thought it was cute. Now, It's just kind of one of those "Why would you do that" things. :|

I know! It annoyed the crap out of me! I do not understand how my sister, who's seen the play version TWICE, can even tolerate it. >< There's I reason I'm sticking with my copy of he OST. :P

Pretty much, yeah. I mean, I get that some people just prefer the movie and the soundtrack to it, but when compared to the stage versions, it's one of those things that I seriously don't understand why. BAH.

I know! It baffles the mind to think anyone could prefer the movie to that stage version. *facepalm* Ah well. Different folks, different strokes and all that.

I actually don't mind Emmy too much--I can see the reunderstanding of her as 16 and vocally immature, but Erik? There's no justification. It undermines the theme and push of the original story.

So hopeful you'll get to see a stage production! If the tour comes to your town, RUN to it! I just saw it recently, and it was my favorite Christine and second favorite Phantom I've ever seen. :D

I know. It felt out of place to have Erik not be the strong singer he was in the original cast at least. It bothers me so much about it. *facepalm* I hardly doubt it could've been that hard to go to Broadway and off Broadway actors to find someone who could both play the role and sing the right notes.

What baffles me is that, if you watch the documentaries on the dvd, is that JS talks about how he would only do the movie if they chose young, unknown actors...so why avoid stage actors? PW is obviously of the stage. And I know, I know, they kept harping on the "Erik as rocknroll" thing, but there are strong, trained voices that have a rock sound--listen to Adam Pascal in Aida; ten years after RENT, and his voice has greatly improved but has the same gravelly texture.

I don't really care for a rocknroll phantom, as I understand the story based on the whole "angel of music" thing. To me, rocknroll is very earthy and just doesn't suit. :/

Eheh, my sister only has the regular fullscreen edition (Mom and Dad got her the DVD for her birthday several years ago), so I never got to see the documentaries. ^^; But yeah, that doesn't make much sense to say you want unknowns then not even go to talented, yet not well known actors from Broadway.

Join the club. He's described as an Angel of Music in the musical, not a Rock and Roll god (even if I adore Rock and Roll as well, it doesn't work with Phantom).
