as a queer person that says this about some things i ship, ehhh, there are layers to this beyond "i want my ship to be canon". i usually don't even want them to be canon, even if they would be good rep! because ships becoming canon often ruins them as they're then shoehorned into stereotypical roles by heteronormative writers instead of being left as they are.

if i say a ship would be good representation, it's because the things i tend to ship are non-heteronormative queer ships with non-stereotypical ship dynamics. and for that ship dynamic to be canonified on screen would sometimes be incredibly representative. sometimes i wanna see different kinds of ships represented, and obviously then i ship certain characters because they have the dynamic i wish were portrayed on screen as romantic for once!

as for that being convenient, i can't exactly go about wishing for that between characters i dont know in a show i don't watch, can i?
