I had the most awesome time trolling the comments for secret #112 on Thursday. It's amazing how easy it is to get people riled up. :D

120 Wednesday: After that scene I sorta shipped Nixon/Frost lol.

Wednesday #129 - It makes me so damn depressed that being a "feminist" is seen as such an awful thing.

Sat and Sun are both the same day and the same link.

It's hardly a perfect movement, especially in regard to its claims to work for all women, but I'd rather be inside it than outside it.

108 Friday: PFFFFF. The Tim Burton version was awful and didn't need to be made.

[identity profile] biocaam.livejournal.com 2009-03-07 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
I wholeheartedly agree with this statement.

[identity profile] darkfreakoid.livejournal.com 2009-03-07 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so not used to a Fandomsecrets post having like 9 posts. XD

[identity profile] nemo-de-la-meer.livejournal.com 2009-03-07 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
There is a reason why it was awful.

Oh yeah, Roald Dahl didn't write the screenplay. Ouch.

I'm pretty gratified by all the American Idol and Star Trek secrets cropping up lately. My fandoms that are not animated, finally getting some love.

Lyle > Neil

(Anonymous) 2009-03-07 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
I'm betting they were made by the same person.

It's nice to see the entire week in perspective. Patterns and trends become more obvious.

As the OP to one of them, I can honestly say NOPE.

Monday secrets

The influx of Rob Brydon/Ben Miller stuff just made me sad, really. They were hardly secrets. It just shows the lack of communication in the Brit Panel Slash & Comedian IRL slash groups. In any other fandom, if something like that happened, there'd be a massive boom of fangirling in the relevennt communities. The communities are dead.

I know, whine more. I want squee friends :(

I think this week in review is an excellent idea.

[identity profile] andromeda-2.livejournal.com 2009-03-07 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Did Roald Dahl write the screenplay for the first movie(The Gene Wilder one)?

[identity profile] sinandmisery.livejournal.com 2009-03-07 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
*butting in* yes, he did.

120 on Friday: Would you like icing on your word pie? The old Yuu Yuu Hakusho fanfiction is horrid. And the BNFs never acknowledge that the new fic is better than the old.

[identity profile] basiatione.livejournal.com 2009-03-07 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, he wrote the first draft. He's on record as having been very disappointed by the final product, however.

[identity profile] miribai.livejournal.com 2009-03-07 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait there's a NEW Yuu Yuu fandom? Its not dead? Because that would be deliciously fantastic if there were a living breathing fandom around.

140 on Thursday: I love Lolita to bits for exactly this, but a book fandom is hard when you can't go 'I ship it!' and squabble over who's ship is better and write slash fanfiction or something. It's just not a fandom-y book.
And it's an every day struggle for me to convince people to read it (or watch the movies) because they're freaked out by the subject matter, and no amount of 'No, look, it's genius:' convinces them. It's an awkward subject, and its handled masterfully (particularly, I'm continuously impressed by Nabokov's ability to make HH sympathetic, and then Jeremy Iron's portrayal akjsdkjdffdkj) and people can seem to get over that for rape and murder and genocide but not for Lolita.

Ramblerambleramble...shit, I really want a fandom, too :C

Where the fuck did all the Hetalia wank go ;_;

Oh well, Watchmen wank comming soon!

[identity profile] mondaisenshi.livejournal.com 2009-03-07 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
There is a reason it had to be made. Because I like the story of Willy Wonka and whatnot. But the soundtrack to the original song both scares me and annoys me. Seriously. Wonkatania freaks me the hell out. And Pure Imagination makes me want to kick babies. My brother had that song ON LOOP for like, a week straight so he could make a flash video. And for the record, all I can hear when that song plays is Kermit the Frog.

[identity profile] blueutopiah.livejournal.com 2009-03-07 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the main question to ask when you think about the current YYH fandom is: Do you like yaoi? If yes, then come over to my side.

Bonus question: Who do you ship?

[identity profile] blueutopiah.livejournal.com 2009-03-07 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
How old are we talking about here? Are we talking Mina Lighstar old or when-aff-just-started old?

I wouldn't say the new fanfic is better than the old. More pornographic, maybe, different, yes, but not better. Depends who you're comparing.
