Hollywood has always been about serving mass market products. If it wasn't slapstick, it was exotic swashbucklers, then it was all about screwball comedies, WWII movies, Westerns, Noir, Musicals, even cookie cutter "indie" movies that all felt like the same movie too. They've always chased the trends. If you are upset that the dreck they are serving now is not the same as the dreck you have the warm fuzzies for, that is fine but don't pretend that it is because you want anything other than your preferred dreck from a previous trend.
