I disagree. There is often a lot of good discourse or wank from the controversial secrets. And I often find discussions more interesting than secrets themselves, regardless if the secret it a troll or not.

That being said I do not like the anti-trans trolling that has been going on. I don't like any trolls that are punching down on people for identity. Trolling about fandom topics like problematic ships, SPN drama, or RPF discourse is enjoyable for me to watch. Attacking people for identity is not.

Oh please. What do you think AYRT means about the transphobic comments? How are those not attacking the identities of trans people? They can dress it up however they want, but it’s like saying something homophobic and then walking it back with “how was I attacking the identities of LGBTQ people?”.

It's only fun if someone sincerely believes in a thing and isn't obnoxious. I'll listen to someone who really enjoyed Age of Ultron, but I have no energy to listen to someone wail about how Captain Marvel is ruining cinema with wokness. Likewise, someone saying CM is the greatest superhero movie since Blade is kind of an eyeroll too, unless you have actual opinions about it rather than just sticking it to the libs/incels.

Trolling won't "save" us, I'd rather have 1 sincere secret a day than than all of this annoying controversy baiting pap. This isn't Youtube.

Sounds more like you are afraid that there might be another change in FS contributor norms, and that that change might leave you out in the cold the way you left the other original contributors out in the cold. Maybe you should have been more welcoming and accepting in the original shift and you wouldn't have anything to fear now with the current one.

If the new contributors are contributing spam; just grabbing controversial opinions from TVtropes or whatever; I don't appreciate it. If new contributors have secrets about fandoms I don't follow or ways of participating in fandom I don't interact with that's fascinating and I appreciate it. But also I really don't understand what you're trying to say. If I could go back in time I guess I'd fight to allow the "I'd hit this" secrets because ∞/10 I thought they were funny. But that's the biggest shift I remember. Which old shifts in policy created demographic shifts?
