I'm annoyed.
So my best friend and I share a hobby. I found a great shop/website that has stuff for said hobby and showed her and she fell in in love with several products. Great, I thought, when her birthday comes up I now know what to gift her.
So some time later I casually asked which sets she liked in particular because I said we could order something together. This was true, I wanted something from that shop as well but only something small and international shipping is triple the price of the thing I wanted so I wouldn't have done it. The plan was to order together, and secretly order something she liked along with it.

She said she was thinking about asking her parents for one of the expensive sets for her birthday. So I thought cool, works as well and said I could just talk to her parents if they wanted to share shipping.
She said she'd tell her mother to contact me about it so I waited and waited. Only to find out yesterday her mother just went ahead and ordered it without contacting me.

And now I have nothing to gift her and have to find something else, I won't get the thing I wanted for myself and I'm pissed because I found that shop, I showed it to her and now I don't get to gift her any of it. I know it sounds egocentric but I'm just so disappointed nothing worked out about this. Not sure if it was a communication error on their side - if she forgot to tell her mother I wanted to order something as well or if her mother didn't listen but doesn't matter in the end.

Nah, I get it. Sometimes shit happens and it's very frustrating, especially when you had the best intentions. Hope you find something you are able to gift your friend.

Thank you, I have something in mind but all options that require international shipping are off the table because time is too short by now. Meh.
