A lot of slash is misoginistic. *shrug* HOWEVER, there is a difference between not-feminist and misoginist. Whether "abandoning the cause" and/or "using feminism as an excuse to 'justify' a non-feminist practice" is one or the other depends on your interpretation, I guess.

Yeah, I realize that there can be a general problem with slash and misogyny and blanket bashing of any female characters and sluts and whores blah blah blah... but that's not a problem with slash in principle, it's a problem with the people who write it.

Absolutely. I think a substantial part of the female character bashing that happens in (slash) fandom has more to do with writers' incompetence, misguided attempts at supporting characters/ships, and just plain old jealousy, than hating on women. Problem is that though the writers may not act out of any overtly misoginist motivations, what they produce still ends up with misoginist elements. :\
