115 There used to be fics where Ginny cheats on Harry with Draco, or, Harry's kind of an asshole and Ginny leaves him and ends up with Draco. Ah, how the worm has turned.

117 Or blatantly rewrite the women. If you wish that they had been better as characters, perhaps writing a story that explores that could be interesting, instead of abandoning them for the men.

135 I have a long attention span, so I see what you're saying. But sometimes people stop watching things not because they're fickle or have short attention spans or saw something shiny, but because the canon moved in a direction they didn't like. I'm tired of those people being portrayed as "bad fans" as though the only good fan is one that walks lockstep with the creators. I consider those people to be, sometimes, merely lucky fans.

Yeah, I've read some Ginny/Draco, but I probably wouldn't read or would stop reading if Ginny cheated on Harry. But Harry/Draco is my OTP, so I read a lot of those, thus my singling out that pairing. But any story where someone is cheating on their partner and there is no recognition of the impact this has on the one who is being cheated on generally doesn't do it for me.

117. But then you're not writing the character, you're writing a totally different person with the same name and looks. Which kind defeats the purpose of fanfiction.

I wouldn't be against fic that shows growth and progression of a female character, but rewriting her would be a bit much.
