#120; You and me both, OP! I'm stupidly happy because the casting choices and I'm counting down the days until it's release. :D

#130; I enjoyed both Advent Children and Crisis Core. I liked the latter far more than anything, since it was the first time Cloud wasn't depicted as an utter jackass. No, I will never play FFVII because, let's face it, the graphics are utter shit. (I was about 7 when it came out, so yes, yes I know it's old, there have been massive improvements in CGI, etc., etc., etc.) I don't care if that makes me a horrible person, it's the truth. I can still enjoy a story, without having played the original.

#135; Sometimes, people just don't have the desire, nor the time to continue watching a show. Why should you feel the need to judge people based on that? Some people have other things they need to do. Fandom is not the be-all, end-all.

Also "fangirlism is srzs bzns"? Seriously? Seriously?! Who are you and please never step foot in my fandoms.

#140; OP, you're not the only one. Castiel made me, for the first time in my life, ridiculously proud to be a Roman Catholic. He pushed me to read Revelations, allowed me to identify more with my religion, and gave me the courage to stand up to the massive wank and hatred that seems to be directed at Christianity in the Supernatural fandom.

I used to play (re: 2 years ago) all the bloody time. But oMgz!1!one! I couldn't possibly enjoy roms, since, you know, I don't enjoy FFVII graphics.

Still, graphics aren't everything. ^.^ Many games I'd consider all-time awesome had graphics leaving much to be desired, but the gameplay, storyline, character developments, etc outshone the visual shortcomings. Part of the fun was shaping the characters not just on screen, but in your imagination. :D

I actually do agree with you, quite honestly. Lord knows I adore dated games like Chrono Trigger, Bahamut Lagoon, the Legend of Zelda series, earlier FF volumes, Secret of Mana, hell, even Harvest Moon; all games that are far inferior to the graphics seen today. Regardless, I still adore them, and still play them, for the enjoyment of the, as you say, gameplay, storyline, and so forth.

There's just something about the FFVII graphics that I can't get past. ~~Well, that, and I think Cloud's a prick. >.> Yes, yes, I know, tortured past and all that. But still~~

Ah, I'm not a big fan of FF7 either (rather, the crazy fanboys and all the wank they bring in my FF6 fandom -_-;;). I just assumed you were judging it solely on graphics, but you actually seem pretty cool. You mentioned a lot of titles I like. XD

Man, it's so rare to find someone who likes Harvest Moon! Usually it's someone asking "...what?" or "How could you find a farming sim entertaining!?"

They drift into other fandoms? What, do they just generally proclaim 6 isn't better than 7? But yes, I admit my dislike stems from a mix between the graphics of solely FF7 and the characters, namely Cloud.

Most of my favorite games are from between 1992-1999. Not to beat a dead horse, but graphics aren't everything, and frankly, I find it sad when someone simply can't find a game enjoyable if it doesn't have OMG AWESOME graphics. You're missing out. And FFVII isn't even one of my favorite games, for the record. But only playing "pretty" games is a surefire way to miss some real gems. :)

Actually, I read one of your replies further down before posting this and you listed Chrono Trigger (my all-time favorite), Secret of Mana, and the earlier Zelda games as games you enjoy, and I realize your issue isn't with graphics in general, but specifically the graphics of FFVII, and this I can understand. XD Still, I'm not scrapping my comment because I do know some people feel graphics > story, and I feel I made a valid point. >_>

Not everyone is obviously as understanding and as generous when it comes to playing video games as you are. Too bad people really would like what they SEE on the screen to be appealing.

I completely understand where you're coming from.

At the same time, however, I usually don't have a large problem with missing out on games because of the graphics. Mostly because I have no time on my hands between university, work, and general RL annoyances, so I barely get time to play new games, let along older ones with dated images.

As well, the graphics will keep getting better as time goes on, so I have no where to go but up. XP

But again, I see where you're coming from and I do agree blanketing all older games as crap because of their graphics can be over the top.

I do stand by my hate of FF7 graphics, in and of themselves. I have no idea, however, why I harbour that dislike, but will happily play Harvest Moon 64, or Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Maybe it's because there's no (with the exception of Twilight Princess) subsequent games with revolutionary graphic changes, as see in the FF series. I mean, seven years after it's release and I'm still completely blown away by the CGI sequences in FF10.

That's like saying "I will never watch [blah] movie because it's in black and white," or "I will never watch [blah] because the special effects are shit."

You obviously didn't read my other comments, so I shall repeat myself.

I love both older games and newer games. Sit me down in front of Chrono Trigger, Harvest Moon, Secret of Mana, older Zelda games, hell, even Pokemon, and I'm a happy camper. In the same vein, you can sit me down in front of Crisis Core, FFXIII (when it comes out), Twilight Princess, etc. and, once again, I'll be a happy camper.

There is simply something about the graphics in FFVII that I cannot step past. So sue me.

And for the record, I adore black and white movies. They ones I do not enjoy, have nothing to do with the colour-less output, but the story, acting, and plot.
