And what a story it is! Wish we had more novels like Les Miserables, where you have characters like Enjolras and Grantaire instead of strict realism.

It's supposed to be stylized reality, romanticized to the extreme, but it's hard to tell a story of what the Friends of the ABCs experienced between the 5 and 6 of June without going into some stylization. Strict adherence to reality would make it boring!

Also, the time period itself lends itself to people who might not seem so credible today, but were then.

It's not that it's yaoi.
It's that it has the premise of being something possibly really cool, has a big fan following that says it's something really cool, has the promise of added mansecks...

...and turns out to be this huge ball of cliché with the plot being barely even a backdrop.

But at least it's consistent. It's not like you got sucked in for 8 chapters and then it devolved to mansex and nothing but.

I tend to be really eh about this kind of thing, since, like Twilight, one persons "utter crap" is another person's "ultimate squee" and that seems to be the case here. There are probably a lot of people reading this solely for the sex and here it is delivered, with an interesting background to support it. When it comes to matters of taste, I have little patience with one side claiming theirs is fundamentally better.

If you reframe this as a dirty comic, it might be easier. Most dirty comics out there have just enough frames of back story to get to the shedding clothes and sex.

Xenophile is a great example of a dirty comic that also has intriguing stories, many of which could have been played gen.
