As someone who likes the books, Paul, and his character arc, I kind of dread the discourse around him if the later books get made into movies.

He's the kind of character archetype current fandom *hates*. If some people reacted so badly to Kylo Ren and Loki, or people get attached to him in the movies without knowing what they're in for...

Some people don’t think they’re just misunderstood little cinnamon rolls, and that means fandom hates them. Doesn’t stop them writing tons of snippy fics with them, but still. Pure hatred.

The discourse will be bad anyway, but, honestly, I hope that Dune done by these team will treat the harm done by the character seriously and that takes away about 80% of my issue with Kylo Ren/Loki thing (I care less about selective reading of fans than I do about canon's hand-weaving of crimes between films/series/etc).
