Oooh, yes, do watch it. Nia's more than just cute, though. She has that kind of quiet, unquestionable strength. It's not physical, it's more emotional and spiritual, but it really makes there that much more of an enjoyable character.
A type... Um. I tend to like the clueless/ditzy types and the nurturers. Big fan of Nia, Colette, Estelle, Nill... A lot of times it also depends on the series, how they're presented, the environment they're in, the other characters around them... Sometimes I prefer the BAMF lady over the moeblob.

OK, I'll give Gurren Lagann a shot. Based on your description of Nia, she sounds like the type of character that I would like.

Sort of in agreement. I like Ayumu "Osaka" (Azumanga Daioh), Hikari (Haibane Renmei), Eriko (Maria-sama ga Miteru), etc. A moe character should have at least some intelligence. But what makes them (these examples) likable is that...well, they've got their own way of looking at the world. Even if it appears ditzy or whatever to the other characters.
But if you just want cute, then definitely Chiyo-chan (Azumanga Daioh). Nobody out-cutes Chiyo-chan.

woijefioewj I love Osaka. Never saw much of Haibane Renmei, and Marimite's not my thing (school dramas period aren't my thing), though I really do want to see more of the former. Osaka is just.....amazing. She's a really realistic kind of moe.
Oh man I love Chiyo-chan too. Have you read Yotsuba& yet?

This! And the other two that I pointed out have a lot in common with her (except that Eriko's seen as more aloof), which is what I meant by a pattern.

Indeed. And as for Haibane Renmei, I'd say just try it. It's only 13 episodes.
