I agree. It seems lazy.

Like, put a knife in there if it's a murder or something. These blob covers are lazy.

I'm sure they'll go out of fashion soon, like the "hands on the cover" ones did.

They'll go out of fashion but something else will come in fashion and every book released will have that kind of cover instead. It's so exhausting. It makes all the books feel pointless and dull and repetitive.

They are at least better than woman's torso with a weapon, skinny brown leather pants and crop top, with a murky background, but with the model's head out of frame. That was a grim trend, that one. At least these have some damn color in them. For the love of god, publishers, please start hiring old fashioned water color cover artists again.

Ha! I remember those. You'd see similar covers for historical fiction as well... but just the dress and maybe part of the woman's head if you're lucky.

DA. lmao I prefer those covers to the weird blobs. At least they're atmospheric.

They were so boring and all the same. I didn't see the atmosphere, and they gave virtually no indication of either the plot or the tone of the book. I know they say to never judge a book by its cover, but that is what the cover art is there for. These at least indicate a degree of tone.
