It's funny because I don't think either of them are unattractive from that pic, but they look so... bland to me at the same time? I mean those are clearly decent looking animated models but there's almost something too polished about them for me. It's very confusing.

Agree. That photo should be in the dictionary under bland leads.

They're handsome, sorta, but bland.

The issue is the 3D animation, mostly. It makes for pretty bland characters.
